Napoli have announced that central defender Amir Rrahmani has signed a new long-term contract extension, which ties him to the Partenopei until the summer of 2027, with the option of a further year also included.

The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the Napoli defence under Luciano Spalletti this season, registering 27 Serie A appearances throughout 2022-23, which would have been a higher figure had it not been for the abductor injury, which ruled him out for six games before the break for the World Cup in November.

The Kosovo international also chipped in with two goals over the course of the year, bringing his personal tally up to seven since joining from Hellas Verona in 2020.

Rrahmani’s contract had been set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, but after helping Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years, he has been rewarded by having his long-term future secured.

The news of Rrahmani’s commitment to Napoli will be a particular relief for the club, given the reports that his centre-back partner Kim Min-jae could be off to the Premier League before the start of next season.
