Stats confirm Juventus loanee Nicolò Rovella outplayed Leandro Paredes in Monza’s first-ever win in Serie A yesterday.

The Italy starlet joined the Brianzoli on a dry loan deal from the Old Lady on the deadline day, when Paredes completed a loan move with an option to buy from PSG.

It’s a free loan deal, but the Serie A giants can make his move permanent for €22.6m plus €5m add-ons in 2023.

Paredes and Rovella crossed paths at the U-Power Stadium yesterday and the Italy international outplayed his ‘successor’ at the Allianz Stadium.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport points out, Rovella had 109 touches and his passing accuracy was 91.6%. Paredes had less than half his touches (54) and 87% passing accuracy.

Rovella was rated 7.5/10 on the pink paper, while Paredes got 4/10. Only his compatriot Angel Di Maria got less (3) having seen red in the first half for a reaction foul after he was held.

  1. PhD Plonker will care little about those stats. He has got his new Pirlo and loves brick layers who score twice in 74 appearances. Not his fault but the 7/9 do love a brick layer. Think Cafu Danilo and their version of Roberto Carlos. The list goes on and poor Denis paid the price for wanting to go forward.

  2. If people can see how Rovella could be at the same level as of Paredes and evwn more, what if the analogy is done to Soule over this barren Vlahovic ?

  3. A reminder Allegri first choice midfield Paredes, Pogba and Rabiot.
    Not Miretti, Locatelli and Rovella.

  4. Been writing it on here off and on for 2 Years now. Rovella and Fagioli should have been integrated in this team.

But as Italians do, they trust foreigners more and are outwardly and unabashedly against Italian players. Parades being Argentine is all that is needed to be known for Italians to swoon all over them.

Good for Rovella. Wishing Monza all the best this season.
