Delio Rossi believes Fiorentina can “begin a whole new season” if they manage to beat Lecce this afternoon.

The Viola had a very poor start to the campaign and sacked Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, while Rossi has had his own problems since taking over.

Beaten 3-0 in the Coppa Italia midweek against Roma, they must now focus on improving their Serie A status.

“This is the type of game where you have everything to lose and nothing to gain,” warned the ex-Lecce tactician.

“We need the utmost concentration, as this is the most important match of my time here so far. If we win this, then Fiorentina can begin a whole new season.

“The defeat to Roma was unlucky, as we were on the right track and took the initiative. There are always going to be risks when playing with many youngsters, but if they don’t play then they’ll never gain experience.”

The Viola are once again with no pure strikers in the squad, so Stevan Jovetic is expected to be partnered by Adem Ljajic.

“Stevan can do well out wide too, but in my view he is better in the middle. He plays as a centre-forward, but divides his tactical chores with his teammates. If he were to play alongside a more traditionally static striker, then his characteristics would change.”
