Palermo are still buzzing from their Sicilian derby triumph, but Delio Rossi warns his players must play “at the same level” to defeat Cesena.

“We are riding the crest of a wave after the derby win against Catania, but if we play with just a touch less concentration, then we are not going to get the points against Cesena,” said the Coach.

“We've got to always step on to the field in order to play the game of our lives and use the positive feeling from the derby.

“Cesena won the Serie B tournament and kept the skeleton of the side intact. They know that they have to fight to the end to avoid relegation and so will scrap for every point. Their entire season rests on one or two points and they know it.

“Their players all work hard for each other and can have their say by making the most of the pace and quality of figures like Emanuele Giaccherini and Luis Jimenez.”

Palermo beat Catania thanks to a Javier Pastore hat-trick despite the fact he was carrying a knee injury, but Rossi also had praise for Massimo Maccarone.

“It's true that Maccarone suffered amid the competition for places more than most, but he is a different player now and I thought he was decisive last weekend. There are so many options in attack now.

“Fabrizio Miccoli should play, keep healthy and score. At this moment he may not be 100 per cent, but he only gets there by playing. Clearly we must ration out his playing time to suit his fitness needs.”
