Palermo boss Delio Rossi has invited his players to make history in their Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan.

The two teams meet at the Stadio Barbera on Tuesday evening after the first leg in Milan ended in a 2-2 draw.

"Tomorrow night's game is a match that could enter the history books for Palermo and Sicily," Rossi, who has won the Coppa with Lazio in his career, noted.

"The fact we have got this far is already an important achievement for us and one to be proud of.

"I've told the boys that the match tomorrow will be different from the first one. Only tomorrow's tie exists and I'm convinced we'll play a great game."

No Sicilian club has ever won the Italian Cup, with Palermo going close in 1974 and 1979 by finishing as runners-up.

"Milan are not a side who are satisfied with just one victory," added Rossi when asked for his thoughts on the new Scudetto holders.

"I expect the Italian champions to arrive, even calmer now because they have nothing to demonstrate.

"They didn't train yesterday but that changes nothing. There are just 20 days of the season left and everything is relative. They are, after all, used to playing every three days."

Rossi concluded by asking for the support of the Rosanero faithful to make the difference in the tie.

"Our fans can be decisive," the tactician added. "However, to ignite their passion we have to play in the way we know how – for them and the shirt."
