Hungary coach Marco Rossi confirms RB Salzburg talent Dominik Szoboszlai ‘was very close to Milan’ when Ralf Rangnick looked set to take over.
The 20-year-old scored the spectacular play-offs winner that allowed Hungary to qualify for the European Championship and is widely expected to move on in January or at most next summer.
“He has great vision of the game, runs hard, but needs to improve in the defensive transitions and overall in his defending,” Rossi told Radio Punto Nuovo.

“If he were to come to Italy, I think he’d become a complete player very quickly.”
There have been numerous clubs interested, none more in Serie A than Milan, although there’s also Napoli and Lazio.
“I know Szoboszlai was very close to Milan with Rangnick, but Napoli were interested too.”
Rangnick eventually did not take the Rossoneri role, as instead Stefano Pioli was offered a contract extension.
