The Viola dominated the first half and were unable to take their chances, eventually losing their way after the break in this Coppa Italia Last 16 tie.
“I was curious to see how the team would fare against a Roma in great shape,” said the Coach.
“We did really well for an hour, even if we didn’t make the most of some pretty simple chances that you really have to take against a side like Roma. The squad reacted, but made mistakes that proved disastrous.
“We lost 3-0, but a Coach has to evaluate the performance more than just the result. I firmly believe in my players, many of whom are under 20 years old. This Fiorentina side has a soul and I leave the game aware we are on the right track.
“I certainly think that the 3-5-2 system is most suited to the players at my disposal.”
