The dramatic finale raised tempers at the final whistle, as players from the bench engaged in a scuffle, apparently prompted by the ‘over-celebration' of the Cesena staff.
“That happened behind me, so I can only talk about what happened on the field. It's difficult to talk to the players after a game like this.
“Fabio Liverani is very good at organising the side and I needed quality in midfield, because we didn't have forward players like Javier Pastore today, so he had a chance.”
Rossi returned after a 35-day spell to replace Serse Cosmi, as President Maurizio Zamparini admitted it was a mistake to fire him.
“I have barely spoken to Zamparini. He called me and I said I'd be ready to return, only after talking to the players. I came back for three reasons.
“I hadn't been sacked in 11 years, so I like finishing something I have started. I feel affection for the fans and didn't want to ‘betray' them, while I felt the same for the players.
“We haven't discussed the future. “
