Giuseppe Rossi believes his Fiorentina side could have won the Scudetto and admits he expected more from La Viola this season.
The former striker played for Genoa and Fiorentina with the two sides that will meet at the Marassi on Saturday.
“Florence and Fiorentina are my second home, Genoa was an opportunity that I wanted to live as a protagonist,” Rossi told Il Corriere Fiorentino.

“Florence and Fiorentina are my second home, Genoa was an opportunity that I wanted to live as a protagonist,” Rossi told Il Corriere Fiorentino.
“I spent three incredible seasons in Florence. It’s the most beautiful city I've seen, and I discovered a great passion. I am proud to have worn that jersey.
“Genoa was a great opportunity, and I would have liked to live it as a protagonist, but it wasn’t possible. I’m still asking myself why given that I was in a great city with amazing fans.
“My only goal for Genoa was against Fiorentina, even if it wasn’t enough to win. It was a good game.
“I remember I once scored a brace for Fiorentina against Genoa in a 5-2 win. [Mario] Gomez scored two too and Aquilani netted one. What a Fiorentina side that was. We could have even won the Scudetto,” Rossi claimed.
“Anything would have been possible without so many injuries. Without them, we could have had the Coppa Italia or the Europa League in the Viola trophy cabinet.
“I expected more from Fiorentina [this season], consistency is crucial and it’s also essential to find a coach with a mentality that players respect, believing in what they do. That’s what Fiorentina must to next season if they are to achieve something meaningful.
“Commisso is a nice person and a good President. He always defends the club and his players, he must continue like this, hoping to find a solution to build a new stadium. I am sure he will do well for the club and the city.”
