Former Serie A and Italy star Giuseppe Rossi says the owners of the 12 Super League clubs ‘only care about their pocket’ and hits back at fans supporting the new competition.
The former Genoa and Fiorentina retweeted a Sky Sports video where Gary Neville said he is ashamed by Manchester United and Liverpool and called the Super League “a criminal act.”
“Well said Gary. Absolute JOKE!!!” Rossi wrote.

Another tweet from the ex-Italy striker followed that.
“Who else thinks this Super League b******t is a joke??? I’m hoping every soccer/football fan in the world realizes how damaging this is to our game.”

It got almost 1,000 retweets and more than 100 comments with Rossi, who actively joined the conversation with his followers.
A user commented: “I think it will be superb. Why should the big clubs subsidize the rest forever. Live within your own means. Case in point the Europa Conference League, which is just a ridiculous joke.”
“Then you got no idea what this game is truly about. And you’re ok to compromise the integrity of the game for €€€. You’re the problem then,” Rossi replied.
“The foundation the game is built on will be compromised and won’t be the same. Football is more than money. It’s about the love and passion for the game,” he wrote in another tweet.
Exactly. So now Uefa need to even a bit more the playing fields. Equal tv rights distributed among teams? A limit to spending in transfer markets? Something to take away power to these owners who don’t care about the game and only their pockets

But how does the super league fix this? It will empower these teams even more. Uefa and fifa need to understand that regulations should be enforced strongly and stop putting the game in hands of people who don’t care about the actual game of football

History, morals, integrity all lost. The foundation the game is built on will he compromised and won’t be the same. Football is more than money. It’s about the love and passion for the game

Bc you think the teams leaving for the super league will help small teams? Where are the tv rights going to? To the super league. Sponsors? Super league. The owners will make sure they help themselves first. Small clubs will die. This will not better the game

Implement regulations to make the playing fields more equal regarding tv right or spending. But it shouldn’t take away from how successful these big clubs are marketing wise which translates to having more capabilities. Super league isn’t the answer

Champions league changed format 16-20 years also but still the best tournament in the world. Serie A changed from 18 to 20 clubs but continued to be a tournament we all love. Integrity of the game. That’s what it comes down to
