Giuseppe Rossi made his comeback to Italian football for Genoa tonight. “I felt unique sensations and I really missed Italy, but gained with experiences abroad.”
The striker was given his Genoa debut in the final 13 minutes of their 2-0 Coppa Italia defeat to Juventus in Turin, as his international transfer finally came through.

The striker was given his Genoa debut in the final 13 minutes of their 2-0 Coppa Italia defeat to Juventus in Turin, as his international transfer finally came through.
“I felt unique sensations after eight months away from the pitch,” Pepito told Rai Sport following his latest anterior cruciate ligament injury in April.
“I really wanted to prove that I’m in good shape and that my teammates can trust me. We worked hard and it’s a shame we didn’t get the result.
“I really missed Italian football. I grew up here, I have many friends. Plus Juventus had several people I played with for the Nazionale, so it was always nice to see them again. There’s a lot of respect for me and that’s something that means a lot: I thank everyone and now just want to focus on getting stronger.
“If I felt fear when playing, then I wouldn’t be ready. I am ready, I’m happy to have finally been on the end of a few tackles between training and the match situation. I’m very happy.”
Born in America, Rossi has played in Italy, England and Spain.
“I did gain in football intelligence by playing with great champions and travelling around the world. I am fortunate to have enjoyed such experiences.”
Italy won’t be at the 2018 World Cup, having failed to qualify.
“It’s really disappointing. I know how they felt during the play-offs with Sweden. It’s not good, but we will get back to where we belong.
“Of course I’d love to wear the Italy shirt again, but let’s take it one step at a time.”
