The surgeon who operated on Giuseppe Rossi's knee is confident he'll recover for Euro 2012.

The Villarreal and Italy starlet damaged his anterior cruciate ligament this week and has already gone under the knife.

“The operation went well, as we reconstructed the ligament that had snapped by bringing in tendon tissue,” said his surgeon.

“The recovery time is around six months and he should be ready to play in the European Championships with Italy.”

‘Pepito' Rossi also explained what happened when he suffered the serious injury against Real Madrid.

“I had the ball on my right foot, but when I moved to hit it with my left, I heard a strange noise, almost like a crack.

“I went to the bench and asked to come off, but I felt ok. When I woke up on Thursday morning, I was in agony.

“I have no intention of pushing my recovery process beyond its natural limits, as I know it will take a little time. I am certain I won't get too bored without football. At least it'll give me time to improve my Playstation skills!”
