Giuseppe Rossi’s agent said he is “happy at Genoa” and looking forward to a very special game against his old club Fiorentina.

The 31-year-old had been a free agent after yet another devastating knee injury, signing for Genoa in December, and so far has played 133 minutes of football over seven competitive games.

“Facing Fiorentina is at the very least a special game for him,” agent Andrea Pastorello told RMC Sport.

“He is in good shape and 100 per cent fit, so the Coach will choose whether he plays or not. He was probably their best player in the last game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was in the starting XI.

“If Giuseppe scores against Fiorentina, it’ll be a light at the end of this long tunnel he is in. I always hope he can score as many goals as possible.

“He is very happy at Genoa and was given an exemplary welcome. The club has the option to extend his contract for another year and will evaluate the situation, then we’ll see what to do.”
