“When coming out, I went to sit on the wrong bench, as usually I tended to be on the other one at the Stadio Franchi.
“I had to work in stages with the squad, as some of them came back from international duty only yesterday. I still saw a good group of professionals who gave their heart and soul against the champions of Italy.
“The spirit of these lads was important, especially Matija Nastasic, who is only 22. The fans also appreciated it, as they saw we gave our all.
“I am not a Saint, nor a doctor, a mechanic or a fixer. I am here to begin a new era with an important and ambitious club. I have some tactical ideas in my mind, but we’ll have to see if they can work, because some of these players I’ve only ever seen on television.”
