The Fiorentina man had basically missed the last two campaigns due to a recurring knee problem, but he’s now back in regular action and scoring.

After winning a recall to the Italian national side this month, he now leads the Serie A scoring charts following a hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Juventus on Sunday.

“I was certain that he would return to have the same character as he had before, but being at this point already after two years of inactivity was not even in the most optimistic expectations,” Andrea Pastorello told TMW.

“That was his first hat-trick [on Sunday] and to gift that to Florence in such an important game is doubly satisfying.

“Let us say that, after Cesare Prandelli recalled him to the Giro Azzurro, he has definitely come out of his injury tunnel.

“I’m happy with how he has returned and the fact that he is the Capocannoniere right now leaves me very hopeful for the future.”

Rossi has eight goals in Serie A this term, two more than Torino’s Alessio Cerci who is currently his closest rival.
