Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Marco Rose praised Inter forward Romelu Lukaku but stressed the Bundesliga side ‘are focusing on ourselves’.
The Belgian striker has scored nine goals in 11 competitive games for Inter in 2020-21 and the 27-year-old bagged a brace in the first meeting between the two sides.
“Romelu Lukaku has a big influence over the way Inter play,” Rose said at a press conference. “When he’s in on goal, he sticks it away. He’s a fantastic athlete.”

But the coach said Borussia Mönchengladbach are focused on how they can leave Milan with all the spoils.
“We’re focusing on ourselves. We have our principles on and off the ball, and we want to implement them so that we put in a good performance and get a result.”
Rose confirmed centre-back Nico Elvedi is out, but he believes 30-year-old Tony Jantschke will ‘step up’ at San Siro.
“[Elvedi] picked up a minor muscle injury in training yesterday and will miss out tomorrow. We have faith in the whole squad, though. Tony Jantschke will step up again.”
