Brazil legend Ronaldo backs Carlo Ancelotti, José Mourinho or Pep Guardiola to become the Seleçao’s coach, replacing Tite.

The Brazilian tactician resigned last week after a 4-2 loss on penalties against Croatia in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Ancelotti is one of the candidates for the job, according to reports in Brazil, while Pep Guardiola was not interested in the offer and extended his contract with Manchester City until 2025.

Ronaldo, a two-time World Cup winner, backed the Italian tactician to replace Tite but was not the only candidate named by the ex-Inter and Milan striker.

“I’d love it [Tite’s successor] to be someone like Guardiola, Ancelotti or Mourinho,” said Ronaldo.

“However, I’m not the one deciding, so let’s see what will happen. There are rumours about these coaches in Brazil, but I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t see issues with having a foreign coach for Brazil.

“Now, there will be a huge debate on the name of the next CT, and I see these names positively.”

Both Ancelotti and Mourinho’s contracts expire in 2024. The Italian tactician returned to Real Madrid in 2021, signing a three-year deal. The same is true of Mourinho, who signed for Roma last year.

Ronaldo won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002, losing the Final in 1998 against France. He joined Real Madrid from Inter after winning the 2002 World Cup, also thanks to his brace in the Final against Germany.
