According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has asked Juventus to extend the contract of the Portuguese star until June 2023.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has one year remaining in his contract with the Old Lady and according to the report, he wants to extend his stay at the club for one more season.

There had been rumours Ronaldo was in talks to extend his contract with the Bianconeri earlier this week, but Sky Sport denied such reports.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports negotiations between the two parties have not begun yet, but Juventus have been informed about Ronaldo’s desire to sign a contract extension until 2023.

Juventus are aware Mendes offered Ronaldo to both PSG and Manchester United after the end of the season, but both clubs are currently not interested in signing the 36-year-old.

Juventus asked for time to make a decision as Ronaldo is the highest earner at the Allianz Stadium with a salary of €31m-a-year.

Even though he has scored 100 goals in three years in Turin, the COVID pandemic has made it more difficult for the Bianconeri to afford the salary of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Juventus Director of Football Federico Cherubini claimed earlier this week there are ‘no signals’ that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave the club in the summer.
