Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Juventus to pay him the €19.9m fee secretly agreed during the early stages of the COVID pandemic, reports detail.
An investigation has been opened into the Bianconeri after reports that they secretly agreed to paid their squad during the first few months of the COVID pandemic in 2020, despite publicly stating that salary payments had been temporarily suspended. These agreements were not communicated to the FIGC or stock market, being kept off their reported balance sheets.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronaldo wants Juventus to pay him the €19.9m fee agreed back in 2020. He had publicly agreed to take a pay cut but secretly signed a deal with the club that guaranteed him the €19.9m, even if he left Turin.
The Portuguese star called on a team of lawyers to examine the situation at the Old Lady and study their balance sheets before making his request.
Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini discussed the money owed to Ronaldo when speaking to former president Andrea Agnelli in late August 2021, saying: “€19m from the previous year and €9m from a year earlier, so €28m before taxes due to COVID.”
Ronaldo should do the honourable thing and forfeit that sum. He is wealthy beyond his dreams and it’s important not to further sink the FTX of calcio. Either that or he demands the money be used for a charitable caused and not a go fund me for the broke villagers of Turin also known as the Wendy’s of Europe.
