Juventus fans are split over Cristiano Ronaldo’s farewell to the Old Lady, with the Portuguese star who has made a shock return to Manchester United.

The #CristianoRonaldo hashtag has been trending on Twitter for the last 72 hours, with the ex-Juventus superstar first strongly linked with a move to Manchester City before completing a shock return to Old Trafford.

Hundreds of thousands of football fans, especially those supporting Manchester United, City and Juventus have had their say on social media about one of the biggest transfer moves of the summer, if not the biggest one.

Ronaldo spent three seasons at Juventus, scoring 101 goals in 134 appearances with the club, but somehow, some Juventus fans feel he didn’t provide what he was meant to. The Old Lady were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals in Ronaldo’s first season in Turin and faced shocked eliminations at the hands of Lyon and Porto in 2020 and 2021.

  1. From Guardian:”Three years ago, Juventus paid £100m for a 33-year-old and gave him a basic salary of £26.6m a year, a deal that must now rank as one of the worst in history. Ronaldo was signed to take Juventus, who had lost in two Champions League finals in the previous four seasons, to European glory. Instead they lost in the quarter-final to Ajax, then in the last 16 to Lyon, then in the last 16 to Porto. Juve had won seven scudetti in a row before Ronaldo arrived. They won it again in their first two seasons with him, but finished fourth last year. He may have scored 81 league goals in three seasons, but Ronaldo made Juventus a worse football team.”
