“It will be a celebration but I find the image that Brazil is giving of itself to be embarrassing,” Ronaldo told Reuters.

“I am sorry to hear of the complaints that people have been making form outside Brazil and I am sorry that my country is being portrayed in this way.
“It’s shameful to have had so many delays in the delivery of the stadia and construction sites.
“The stadia will be completed, yes, but we will now miss out on the structural benefits the World Cup would have left to Brazil as a legacy.”
