Cristiano Ronaldo said that Juventus have come 'very far', adding that the Paulo Dybala-Gonzalo Higuain combination was the 'strongest in the world'
He was asked if the Juventus summer signings of Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Dani Alves have put them into contention for winning the Champions League this season, and futhermore if the combination of Paulo Dybala-Higuain was the strongest in the world.
"Of course, they have come very far," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "In recent years, they have played well, and have a strong team, especially at home where they are really hard to beat.
"I think it's true. I was Higuain’s team-mate, he is a great striker that scores a lot of goals, but at the end of the season, success will be measured according to the number of trophies that he has won.
“I hope they don't do too well in the Champions League because we want to retain it and become the first to win it two years in a row. Let's say that if Juve win Serie A I would not mind … "
The Real Madrid striker was then asked about the progress of his former teammate Jose Callejon at Napoli and the value that his compatriot Joao Mario brings to new club Inter.
"I see that Callejon plays very well. I followed the game they played against Benfica and I got the idea that they have a strong group.
“He is having a great start to the season, I'm happy."
"Yes, Joao Mario think he brings a lot to his new team and vice-versa. We talked, he told me that the team has great players and that the Italian league is very difficult but it is adapting well.
“He still doesn’t know the language but in a few months he will be able to speak much more."
