Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo continues to write history in his fifth European Championship but seems prepared to leave Juventus this summer.
Today, Ronaldo will play his 22nd match at the Euros and extend his record of making the most appearances in European Championship history.
He will be the first player to participate in five different Euros this summer and is currently tied with former France and Juventus star Michel Platini on nine goals in the competition.
Ronaldo: ‘My future doesn’t matter, I’m focused on winning with Portugal’
Ronaldo won 11 European Championship games so far – the same amount of wins as former Spain players Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas.
But as the superstar continues to chase records in Euro 2020, La Gazzetta dello Sport believes the 36-year-old’s also prepares to leave Juventus this summer.
The newspaper points at his words during the press conference ahead of Hungary vs. Portugal at 17.00 UK time today.
Ronaldo said his own future ‘doesn’t matter’ right now, but when asked if he will stay or leave the Bianconeri, he replied: “What happens, will be for the best.”
But the rumours of a possible move away from the Allianz Stadium doesn’t distract the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player.
“I have been playing at the highest level for 18 years. It doesn’t really bother me,” Ronaldo said. “I’m 36. Now I’m focused on the European Championship, I want to win and I want to have positive thoughts from the first to the last game.”
Ronaldo’s contract with Juventus expires in June 2022 and the report claims he will decide his future after Euro 2020.
