Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is among the final three nominees vying for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.

Ronaldo helped Juve win their eighth straight Scudetto following his Italian-record €112m transfer from Real Madrid last summer, scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

The No 7 also captained Portugal to glory at the inaugural edition of the Nations League over the summer.

He will be joined on the podium by long-term rival Lionel Messi and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Ronaldo has won two of the three Best FIFA Men’s awards and is tied on five with Messi to have received the most FIFA Ballon d’Or/Ballon d’Or crowns.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Milan on September 23.

As for the Puskas Award for best goal, Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella failed to make the cut with his stunning backheeled finish.
