Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has accepted a suspended 23-month prison sentence for tax fraud and will pay an €18.8m fine.
However, Ronaldo – who missed a penalty during Juve’s 3-0 win against Chievo only the night before – is not likely to serve any time behind bars, given the sentence is under two years and non-violent.
The pre-agreed deal was presented to a judge on Tuesday at a Madrid court, where the Portuguese was present, and BBC News reports a verdict will be announced ‘in the coming days’.
