Cristian Romero could sign for Tottenham Hotspur within the next 24 hours for €50m plus bonuses, claim reports, while Atalanta bring Merih Demiral in from Juventus as his replacement.

The negotiations have been going on for weeks, but seem to have finally come together with Tuesday expected to be the crucial day.

Sportitalia, Sky Sport Italia, plus reports in Argentina all have the same version of events, that Romero and Tottenham are about to finalise their agreement.

Atalanta are prepared to accept €50m plus bonuses – which are expected to be €5m plus another €2m that are trickier to achieve – for the defender.

The only remaining detail to be worked out is the schedule for the Spurs payments.

In turn, Juventus are open to loaning Demiral to the Bergamo club for a fee, with option to buy at the end of the season for a grand total of circa €25-30m.

That will give Juve the money required to raise their offer for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

The Bianconeri had demanded €35-40m for Demiral, but the Turkey international has barely played in the last two years due to injuries and not being a first choice in Turin.
