Atalanta defender Cristian Romero has revealed his target was to play in the Champions League and said he was welcomed by a ‘fantastic group’ in Bergamo.
The 22-year-old moved on loan from Juventus with an option to buy in September and has already played seven competitive games for the Orobici.
The Argentine admitted he enjoys the team and the city, and he stressed he is mostly focused about getting to grips with coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s ideas for the team.

The Argentine admitted he enjoys the team and the city, and he stressed he is mostly focused about getting to grips with coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s ideas for the team.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel. “There’s a fantastic group here. They always make me feel like I’m one of them.
“My wife Karen hasn’t been out much in Bergamo so far, I already know the place better than she does, but she’s really happy too.
“I have a lot of friends in big teams, but I don’t like to talk about what concerns me off the pitch. I need to continue like this and learn what the coach wants, to always do well.”
Romero has played twice in the Champions League and said he was proud to play his first match in the competition with the Nerazzurri.
“Playing in the Champions League was one of my goals,” he added. “I’m very happy to have made my debut at Atalanta and I hope to continue like this, for example like I played on Sunday [1-1 against Inter].
“I have marked many strong forwards, like [Dusan] Tadic from Ajax. I have to keep working. Many fans write me on Twitter and Instagram, this motivates me too.”
