Romelu Lukaku has praised the Saudi Pro League, so Roma fear the Belgian striker won’t remain at the Stadio Olimpico beyond the summer, while Chelsea hope to get €43m from his sale, reports Gazzetta.

Roma played a friendly game against Al-Shabab in Riyadh on Wednesday, securing a 2-1 win with goals from youngster Joao Costa and Romelu Lukaku.

At the end of the game, the Belgian striker praised the Saudi Pro League, saying, as quoted by Sky Sport Italia, that it would become “one of the best leagues in the world, if not the best,” over the next few years.

It was a surprising claim from Lukaku, who had rejected a Saudi transfer multiple times last summer before joining Roma on loan until June 2024.

Friday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 19 confirms the Belgian forward is tempted to move to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season when his loan spell at the Stadio Olimpico expires.

Chelsea have set their asking price at €43m, a fee Roma won’t be able to afford if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
