According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alessio Romagnoli is unhappy with Milan‘s latest contract offer, so his future at the club is uncertain.

The Italy defender sees his contract expire at the end of the season, but the Rossoneri will offer him lower wages to extend his stay at the club.

Romagnoli currently gets €5.5m per season at San Siro and Milan are unwilling to offer as much.

His agent Mino Raiola refused to rule out his client’s contract extension only a few months ago, but La Gazzetta dello Sport now reports Romagnoli is unhappy with the club’s offer.

No coincidence that the Rossoneri are on the lookout for one or two defenders in January and June.

Lille’s Seven Botman is their main transfer target, but the French club is unwilling to sell in January.

Schalke 04 centre-back Malick Thiaw has also attracted the interest of the Rossoneri, but the German side wants €10m, while Milan won’t offer more than €6m.

Romagnoli has been linked with a free transfer to Juventus if he doesn’t extend with Milan.

  1. Out of all the contract renewal sagas, this is the one that doesn’t make sense in anyway. 5.5m for a bench player when the starting duo are on half the wages.

Probably makes sense for both parties to go separate ways, that is if any other club is willing to offer him those same wages.

  2. Our captain stuck by us throughout many tough and barren years. I thank him for that as he could have left a long time ago for greener and more fruitful pastures. We ought to remember that and still hold respect if he leaves.

Sadly I think his last contract extension was a padded with a salary that perhaps wasn’t in line with his value or performances, but he is/was our captain. That near Ibra-esque salary is unsustainable for a defender that unfortunately has become a bit error prone and untidy.

Perhaps at the time (signing 2015) he was the defender we needed to come out of the hole that were in but our goals, aspirations, playing philosophy and balance sheet are now in a different place.

A salary reduction would be in line with his value, performances and economic outlay but if we need to part, so be it Alessio. Through the front door, Arrivederci il Capitano. And please remember to take Mino with you. 🙂

  3. Nico has summed it up beautifully. I personally wish him to remain, but if he is not satisfied with the offer, really no respect lost whatsoever. Thank you Alessio!

  4. Romagnoli will go to Juve to replace DeLigt who will be sold in the summer to balance their book or to fund another transfer in midfield department which is juve’s actual weakness. Both players are managed by Raiola, so it is very possible.

  5. @Milan ‘fan’.

Didn’t you welcome Pellegri’s signing? Please sit down on making judgements on footballers. Support your local team.

  6. It’s not my money, nor anyone’s here. Pay the man what he wants or he’s off to make a rival stronger.

  7. You could argue that unfortunately Alessio has regressed in recent seasons. He was then overtaken by Kjaer and now Fik.
You can also bet that any lack of good over will be to also move Raiola from Milan as well since he apparently doesn’t do much with Zlatan’s renewals.

Thanks Ale, but it’s best he moves on. Atletico would actually be a good option for him but he’ll probably join Jube.

  8. Rosario you sound like a broken record at this point.
Why do you still support your local team Milan when they’re employing so many foreigners? You should start a movement to make Milan like Athletic Bilbao.

I doubt he’s even Italian. Probably a troll, hence the constant xenophobia and lack of footballing knowledge. Best ignored until FI decide to do something about him.

  10. @ Rosario

You feel the need to be insulted again? You miss it, don’t you? Well, that didn’t take long! No worries, I’m here whenever you want some.

By the way, how much did you cry to FI in your emails to remove all those comments last time you got humiliated?
