The Rossoneri executive has been in a meeting with Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini this evening over the defender's transfer.

The two teams were divided by a negotiable amount as Milan's original offer of €25m was deemed insufficient face to Roma's €30m demand.

Emerging from the summit, Galliani made a cryptic mathematical reference to Tuttomercatoweb which nonetheless clarifies his optimism regarding Romagnoli.

“The deal for Romagnoli is done at 99.8 per cent, a periodic number,” he declared. “I won't say 99.9 because that's not periodic.”

Most media outlets are also reporting that Genoa President Enrico Preziosi joined the summit between the two football authorities, suggesting that more deals than simply Romagnoli's have been discussed.
