Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli played his 200th game for the Rossoneri on Thursday. ‘I hope to do the next 200 in a shorter amount of time’.

The 25-year-old arrived for €25m from Roma in August 2015 and his current deal with the Rossoneri expires in June 2022.

His 200th game was expected this weekend against Sampdoria in Serie A, but Simon Kjaer’s injury in the match against Celtic forced Romagnoli to step in during the 4-2 win in the Europa League.

The defender praised coach Stefano Pioli and defensive colleague Kjaer after the match against the Bhoys.

“Pioli took over in a difficult situation,” he said. “[Former coach Marco] Giampaolo is a very good coach but it didn’t go well.

“Pioli has brought the team together and ideas that are working.

“There’s great harmony and we immediately found each other. It was a more than successful acquisition.”
