The defender made his comeback from injury in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Hellas Verona.

“My return went well and I feel in good shape,” Romagnoli told Milan TV.

“I never feared missing the Final, as I knew my injury wasn’t that serious, but I thank the medical staff. Both teams want to win and will push to the end, but we’ll try to get the result down as quickly as possible.

“We put in a great performance in the Final two years ago and lost in extra time. I think the gap with Juve has been reduced, but we need to last longer than 70 minutes. We’ve got to stay calm and use intelligence.

“Victory would mean winning a trophy, going directly into the Europa League and that automatically improves self-esteem going forward.

“Gonzalo Higuain is a champion who can score with one ball at his feet, so we must manage to limit him.”
