The Bianconeri won 1-0 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo glancing header, but Franck Kessie saw red after a VAR review for his high tackle on Emre Can.

“The way the cards were handed out was unusual, as we were booked or sent off at every minimal contact,” Romagnoli told Milan TV.

Romagnoli will be suspended against Genoa in Serie A on Monday, as he was booked for dissent – his third out of five yellow cards for protesting this season.

“If I as a captain go to speak to the referee and get booked, it is irritating. We respect the officials and ought to be treated with respect in return.”

Milan were also furious that their penalty appeals for Emre Can’s challenge through the back of Andrea Conti was ignored.

“The referee told me it wasn’t even worthy of a VAR review, but I believe he really should’ve seen it again.

“We know our quality and must continue like this, doing better and better. Anything could’ve happened in a one-off game and we caused Juve problems.

“Now we hope to get the three points against Genoa, as it’s important to push for a Champions League spot.”
