Both legs of the semi-final with Lazio ended goalless and it went to a sudden death penalty shoot-out, decided by self-confessed Lazio supporter Romagnoli.

“It was a wonderful game, really hard-fought. We both had chances to break the deadlock, but we’re happy, we deserved it and want to continue like this,” the defender told Rai Sport.

“It’s important not to concede goals and the credit goes to everyone in the team. We’ve got to continue working like this and doing even better.”

Milan are now unbeaten in 13 competitive games and are yet to concede a goal in the Coppa Italia this season.

“The Coach deserves a lot of credit, as he gave us that intensity and grit we were lacking.”
