Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli said the defeat to LOSC Lille in the Europa league will ‘certainly be useful’ against Hellas Verona this weekend.

The Rossoneri’s unbeaten run was stopped by Lille, who picked up a 3-0 win at San Siro on Thursday thanks to a hat-trick from Yusuf Yazici.

Romagnoli insists Milan must look at the first defeat since March when they analyse Sunday’s opponents.

“We knew it was a very difficult match, they were better than us,” Romagnoli told Milan TV. “That’s all, there is no positive streak or any other reason.

“They, like Verona, have pace, play very aggressive and fast. It will certainly be useful.”

Romagnoli has played three games in Serie A since his return from injury and said he’s glad the difficult period is behind him.

“It was quite serious, I thought I could return sooner but then it dragged on,” Romagnoli said. “The important thing is that it’s all over.

“I honestly want to play all the games, then it’s up to the coach to decide. I feel ready and I feel good, it’s up to me to prove it on the pitch."
