Nicolò Zaniolo has yet to score his first goal this season and Il Corriere dello Sport writes that the Italy international ‘will be looking for revenge’ against Inter, ‘a club that didn’t believe in him.’

Zaniolo was not included in the Italy squad during the last international break and has been training at Trigoria, preparing for Saturday’s away game against Inter.

The 23-year-old spent one season in the Nerazzurri’s youth sector before joining Roma as part of a player-plus-cash swap deal that saw Radja Nainggolan join Luciano Spalletti’s Inter in 2018.

Zaniolo has been struggling with a shoulder injury and hasn’t found the net in four appearances across all competitions with Roma this season.

Not having joined his national team during the break, he is expected to start against his ex-club Inter on Saturday when the Giallorossi visit the struggling Simone Inzaghi at the Stadio Meazza.

The Rome-based paper highlights how Zaniolo is determined to impress against Inter, a club that didn’t believe in him in the past and against whom the 23-year-old has ever won or scored.

Zaniolo ‘wants to be more decisive’ – writes Il Corriere dello Sport – while his agent Claudio Vigorelli is ready to begin talks to sign a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma are convinced about Zaniolo’s qualities and are determined to extend his stay at the club until 2027.

  1. Revenge for what? He was still an unproven kid and Inter sent him to a big club not Catanzaro or Ascoli. And as an Interista I have no regret, we won without him. Zaniolo too should not have any bad feelings, he won a trophy with Roma recently and plays for Italy when fit and disciplined
