Roma have the sixth best attack in Serie A, as Tammy Abraham and Nicolò Zaniolo need to start scoring more goals to make the Giallorossi competitive at the top.

The Englishman has scored four goals in total for Roma, while the Italy international has yet to score in Serie A this term, highlighting the lack of a prominent goalscorer at Trigoria.

Barzagli: ‘Roma miss Abraham’s goals’

Roma are fourth in Serie A ahead , but must start scoring more goals to pursue a place in the Champions League.

Former defender Andrea Barzagli stressed the former Chelsea striker needs to start scoring more to help make the Giallorossi competitive.

“Roma are missing his goals,” Barzagli told DAZN. “He helps the team, but he’s not scoring many goals.”

The Giallorossi have the third best defence in the League, but are sixth on the list over the best attacks in Serie A.

Roma can rely on the defensive solidity for now, but the central players in attack must start to deliver more goals, with Zaniolo and Eldor Shomurodov still without a goal domestically this season.

The Uzbek, who arrived for €17.5m is a back-up for Abraham and has helped made an impact off the bench but has not hit the target so far.

The former Genoa forward has not reached the level of Borja Mayoral, who had scored three times and contributed two assists at this point.

3 thought on “Roma: Zaniolo and Abraham desperate for goals”
  1. They both should have scored more Roma need both of them to step up Roma forwards to me don’t seem in sync when they attack and either hold on to the ball to long and are to frantic in attack

  2. Exactly. So it’s best not to throw your reserves, including Boss Mayoral into the Outer Rim! How can you trust a manager who put’s blame on you or uses you as a pawn to unnecessarily hammer home a point to the Emperor Friedkintine? I agree that Tammy Padawan has to improve his finishing to become more clinical but give him a break, it’s his first season abroad. He’s done well, will improve even more + does need more help from the other attacker’s.
I think that 3rd best defence thing is a damn statistic that in reality is a “lie” as better opposition will expose that backline. I love IbaMan but both look a bit suspect positionally + both are prone to dropping terrible clangers during a game. We may not have seen the last of the total capitulation, heavy scoreline’s against just yet. But if Tammy scores more, then at least it’ll be 7-4? And at least M(H)ancini offer’s a bit of “grinta.” Darth Jose has a lot of work to do if he wants his Empire to prosper, but rather than choke the players, he has to support them more. That cut + thrust Roman environment may be enhancing his more negative ‘dark-side’ trait’s already. The Force is with Pellegrini though.

  3. Am I the only one who has a question why Mourinho plays pretty much all his games with same, squad, tactics, formation?
Why he keep playing Abraham and Zaniolo as starters?
He should trust others and let Shomurodov and Peres to start at least next 2-3 games and change the formation and tactics too.
If you don’take changes. You won’t see the different results.
