There are reports Kevin Danso failed his Roma medical and will require further tests on Friday to complete the €25m move from RC Lens.
The player flew in yesterday and underwent the traditional tests in the Eternal City, but they did not go quite to plan.
According to Sky Sport Italia and the Corriere dello Sport, the defender failed the medical at the Campus Biomedico in Trigoria.
The Giallorossi are not believed to be ‘particularly alarmed’ at this stage, but they are holding off to see the results of the additional tests that have been requested.
Sky Sport Italia claim that they are trying to cover themselves by bringing in Tiago Djalo’ from Juventus on loan with option to buy for €9m, just in case Danso does not get the all-clear.
Initial reporting suggests the problem is the Lega Serie A fitness tests, which are required to let all players participate in professional football and tend to be around cardiac matters.
Danso a big investment for Roma
This is a big transfer for Roma, making the move on loan with an obligation to buy for a total package of circa €25m.
The Austria international centre-back turns 26 next month and has 23 senior caps for his country.
He joined RC Lens in the summer of 2021 for €5.5m and already played three games for the French club so far this season.
