Roma will head over to Japan during the World Cup break to compete in the second edition of the EuroJapan Cup.

The Giallorossi will head to Asia on November 22 to compete in the friendly competition and their first match will be against Nagoya Grampus at the Toyota Stadium on November 25. A few days later on November 28, Jose Mourinho’s side will take on the Yokohama F. Marinos at the Japan National Stadium.

Mourinho underlined his happiness at Roma’s participation in the EuroJapan Cup, looking back at some of his fond memories in Japan.

“I’m delighted to take my players to Japan in November to take part in the EuroJapan Cup, I’m looking forward to playing against Nagoya Grampus and Yokohama F. Marinos, two of the best and most renowned teams in the J League.

“I have very good memories of my previous visits to Japan and I know how much the fans there love football, so it is very exciting to have the opportunity to return to the country once again.

“And for my players to be able to test themselves against a great opponent and in front of an extraordinary crowd.”

Roma are returning to Japan for the first time in 18 years, when they visited the country during a pre-season tour in 2004. During that trip, the Giallorossi drew 0-0 with FC Tokyo.

This is the second edition of the EuroJapan Cup – the first took place in 2019 and was won by Manchester City, who beat Yokohama F. Marinos 3-1.
