ESPN claim the two clubs are continuing talks for Lovren, who was left out of the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea in Istanbul.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are prepared to lower their asking price for Lovren from €25m to €20m, having also been approached by Milan.
It’s still too high, but Roma could be tempted into a purchase for €15-20m.
Lovren has agreed personal terms with the Giallorossi, who would offer slightly less than his current €4m plus bonuses.
