Financial limitations stopped Roma from investing too much in the summer transfer window, but despite that their wage bill has increased by around 18%.

Calcio e Finanza explored the Giallorossi’s financial situation, analysing their wage bill for the 2023-24 season and comparing it to that of last year, discovering a notable increase overall.

In the 2022-23 campaign, Roma spent around €55.9m net or €88.3m gross, and now these figures sit at €68m net or €104.7m gross, an increase of around €16m or 18% total.

The highest paid players in the squad are new signing Romelu Lukaku with a salary of €7.5m net, and three players who earn €4.5m net per season – Paulo Dybala, Leandro Paredes and Tammy Abraham, the first of whom cannot take advantage of the Growth Decree.

Space for the new arrivals was made by the departures of various players, including Roger Ibanez, Nemanja Matic, Georginio Wijnaldum and Eldor Shomurodov.
