As expected, Roma have unveiled a new-look jersey for this evening’s Serie A match against Milan, removing the Digitalbits logo after failed payments and replacing it with SPQR.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

Calcio e Finanza had reported that Roma were angry at the crypto-currency company failing to keep up with payments on their shirt sponsorship deal.

They took immediate action and removed the logo from their jerseys for today’s Serie A game against Milan.

It was replaced by ‘SPQR’ as a stop-gap solution in the absence of a paying sponsor.

SPQR stands for Senatus PopulusQue Romanus, which in Latin translates to The Senate and People of Rome.

This was the name used in Ancient Rome for the city, which was once the centre of the Western world with an empire that covered millions of people.
