Roma hope to use Valencia interest in Carles Perez to put them front of the queue for Gonçalo Guedes, according to reports.

The Giallorossi have no particular desire to keep Perez at the club, as the 24-year-old gets very little playing time under Jose Mourinho.

He cost €14m to purchase from Barcelona, initially on loan in January 2020, but so far this season has just 21 competitive appearances, many of them off the bench.

Valencia had already been interested in picking up the right-sided winger in the January transfer window, but could not agree terms.

Tuttomercatoweb now claim that the Spanish side will try again over the summer, with Roma hoping it can put them in pole position for Gonçalo Guedes.

The Portugal international plays primarily on the left wing of an attacking trio and his contract with Valencia only runs to June 2023, so they have to sell or risk losing him as a free agent.

Mourinho is a big fan of Guedes and has asked for the 25-year-old to reinforce his squad next season.

Valencia paid €40m to get him from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 and he has scored 13 goals with five assists in 33 competitive matches this term.
