Mady Camara underlined the qualities of Jose Mourinho and why he decided to join Roma at his unveiling today.

The 25-year-old Guinean joined the Giallorossi on a loan deal with a buy option attached from Olympiacos last month, adding an experienced player to Mourinho’s midfield following the serious injury to Georginio Wijnaldum. Camara scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 181 appearances over the last four years for the Greek outfit.

Speaking at his unveiling in Trigoria today, Camara first commented on what’s surprised him most following his arrival at Roma.

“The thing that surprised me most is the family atmosphere here. Everyone has welcomed me very well like a brother, I have to repay them by making myself available.”

He explained why he decided to sign for the Giallorossi and the other clubs in for him.

“Several clubs were interested in me and I hesitated, but when Roma showed up I had no doubts. I spoke with the coach who explained the project to me and I immediately decided to come here.

“It’s a source of great pride to be in the service of one of the best coaches in the history of football, if not the best.

“As is my habit, I am here to give everything and help the team achieve its goals.”

The 25-year-old touched on some conversations he had with former Roma defender Kostas Manolas, who is now plying his trade with Olympiacos.

Yes, I spoke with Manolas in particular after the agreement reached with Roma, he spoke very highly about Roma, about how great the club was and about the warmth that you can feel and that I could see.

Olympiacos has a magnificent fan base with very warm fans and those at Roma are no less so.

Finally, Camara discussed some of his goals in the Italian capital and the other top players in the Roma midfield.

“I want to stay for a long time, that would be my dream and my intention, I will try to work towards it. Sharing the locker room with the likes of Matic, Cristante, Pellegrini, Wijnaldum and Bove himself is a source of great pride.

“As I have already said, there is the utmost humility on my part and a desire to make myself available, listen and help the club achieve its goals.”
