Roma ultras have come out to support their Slavia Prague rivals ahead of tonight’s Europa League match, uniting to protest the ban on their choreography.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

There are circa 4,000 Slavia Prague supporters who will be at the Stadio Olimpico this evening and they had prepared a special choreography to cover their section of the stands.

It was due to read ‘Ave Slavia!’ in a reference to the Roman motto Ave Caesar.

However, when it was inspected by the local authorities, it was deemed ‘offensive’ to Julius Caesar and banned from the arena.

Slavia Prague supporters wrote that their intention was “not to denigrate anyone and we consider this an absurd decision.”

The Roma ultras of the Curva Sud agreed with them and released their own statement on social media channels urging the local authorities to reconsider.

“The Curva Sud, through me, would like to let the Rome Police Headquarters know that they are absolutely not offended by the choreography of the Slavia Prague fans, who they already know.”
