Roma ultras put up banner blaming Pellegrini for Mourinho’s sacking

A group of Roma ultras put up a banner outside Trigoria training ground, blaming Lorenzo Pellegrini for José Mourinho’s sacking.

On Wednesday morning, Pellegrini was called ‘weak link’ in a banner exposed by some Roma ultras outside Trigoria training ground.

It has a double meaning as the original message in Italian was ‘Pellegrini anello debole.’ It literally translates to ‘weak ring’ in Italian and has a reference to what Mourinho did after being sacked by Roma in January.

Il Messaggero reported last month that Mourinho had left his Conference League ring inside Pellegrini’s locker at Trigoria as he felt the Giallorossi captain and the rest of the team did not protect him.

According to Gazzetta, Mourinho also left a picture of one of his Champions League victories inside Pellegrini’s locker with a message for the captain.

Pellegrini reportedly cleared the air with the Special One a few days later, but some fans and ordinary ultras apparently still think, he had a role in Mourinho’s sacking last month.

Pellegrini has scored three goals in four games under Daniele De Rossi, while Roma collected three victories and one loss since Mourinho left.
