According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sergio Romero has emerged as a target after already coming close to an Olimpico switch in 2011, when the club opted for Maarten Stekelenburg instead.
Samir Handanovic is reportedly the club’s preferred goalkeeper, but it would require a significant financial burden to sign the Slovenia international from Inter.
The newspaper believes that the two other options being tracked by sporting Director Walter Sabatini are Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello and Orestis Karnezis of Udinese.
Romero has found himself second choice to Emiliano Viviano at Sampdoria this season, making only ten league appearances.
