This season may finally see the end of the Ex Pupone's long career, as he struggles to find an agreement with the club for the renewal of his contract and prepares for one of the gloomiest derbies in the capital's history.

A new claim by Retesport journalist Daniele Lo Monaco, also shared on Twitter, suggests that Totti offered his services for free just so he could play another year.

This type of contract has a precedent, as former Giallorosso Damiano Tommasi did the same. An alternative deal would see Totti signing a new contract, but devolving the entirety of his salary to charity.

However the offer apparently did not change President James Pallotta's mind, who is determined to have Totti stay with Roma as a director rather than as a player.

The story is also being reported by La Repubblica, though it has not been confirmed by official sources yet.
