After Bayern Munich confirmed they are not interested in Cristiano Ronaldo, reports emerge that Roma are ‘trying everything’ to get the Manchester United striker.

Ronaldo pushed his way out of Juventus last summer and returned to Old Trafford, but despite contributing 24 goals and three assists in 38 competitive games, they still failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag has also not encouraged him, so rumours in Portugal began to spread that CR7 was ready to walk away just a year into his contract.

Now former Roma defender Fabio Petruzzi insists on Retesport that he has information from his old club confirming they are “trying everything” to sign Ronaldo.

It’s an uphill struggle, because the Giallorossi are only in the Europa League and a return to Serie A so soon after quitting Juventus for a smaller club would be seen as humiliating.

On the plus side, Jose Mourinho is the coach, with Portuguese director Tiago Pinto in charge of transfers and ambitious American owners the Friedkin family.

Bayern Munich have also ruled themselves out, as director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sky Sports Germany that it was “not true” they were pursuing Ronaldo as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

  1. Did you really say “because the Giallorossi are only in the Europa League”? In case you hadn’t noticed, ManU is “only” in EL as well. At least ASR has a chance of actually winning it. This site is like the National Enquirer of soccer news.

  2. Yeah right. Roma cannot even convince Dybala. No CL = no party. Plus Roma are too small and not prestigious enough for Ronaldo to consider. He made a huge mistake coming to Juve and tarnishing his career. The truth is he should have stayed at Real as he had everything he needed. Credit to him for not allowing PhD Max to bully him into the “Feng Shui” back, back, down, down.

  3. @InterFan75 Serie A doesn’t need any of those three recycled players. And grown men don’t use emojis. They should go join Insigne in Canada.

  4. @LORD, this one I agree with you on. As for Allegri, I have accepted the probability that winning anything this term will be very low. I am at ease and hopefully no expectations can lead to a surprise. Better for my heart rate as I have given up on shouting at the television.

  5. Ronaldo would have to take a two year project with Roma. Come top 4 or win Europa and try next year in Champions League. Zaniolo money would help this become more real . I’d rather put the money made from Zaniolo and buy Koulibaly who still has a great 3-4 years.Ibanez,Koulibaly,Mancini as back three with Smalling & Kumbulla as cover looks 5 star
