Roma target Thilo Kehrer will undergo his medical with Monaco today ahead of an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy from West Ham.
Kehrer had emerged as a target for Roma in the January transfer window, given that José Mourinho is short of options in defence with Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla still injured and Evan N’Dicka on international duty.
However, Kehrer won’t be moving to the Stadio Olimpico this month as the 27-year-old centre-back is on the verge of joining Monaco.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the German defender will undergo his medical with the French side today, Thursday, January 4, 2024.
The Italian transfer expert claims West Ham approved all details before Kehrer’s trip to France.
Monaco will pay €500,000 for the player’s loan until the end of the season, but the deal comes with an obligation to buy for €11m in June.
Roma are dealing with a tight transfer budget in January due to FFP restrictions and won’t be allowed to spend more than €1.5m this month unless some players leave.
